We laid our heads down at a casino hotel called the Swinomish. Dwayne and I were going to check out the casino, but the full day of flying on top of a little bit of jet lag settled in and we decided to go straight to bed. We got up early this morning and headed towards the ferry in Anacortes. Before we caught the ferry, we stopped to eat breakfast at a bowling alley. Although this may sound a bit strange, it is actually ranked as the best breakfast in the area. We checked in at the ferry 1 hour early and waited for a bit. During our wait time we took pictures of the water, went to the gift shop, and then hung out in the car laughing, singing, and enjoying each other's company.
Aniston was a joy. She was so patient in the van because it took a while before boarding the ferry. I think all the years of traveling during the summers has helped her become more patient while on the road. As the vehicles boarded the boat, we were so excited to walk to the top and see the beauty of the water. The mountains, the different islands, and the water was the most humbling experience. I am so glad that Aniston could experience this glory. She may not remember but this is why I write. ( :
Our boat ride was 3 hours long. During that time, we all got beers and had a toast to being on the boat...and on our way to Victoria B.C. Canada. After that, we all got the best clam chowder in the world. It is called Iver's Clam Chowder. Love it! Our first stop was at Friday Harbour. It is a cute area with lots of shops and cool people. We moved on past Friday Harbour and landed in Sydney B.C. Canada. We drove about another 25 min. to get to Victoria.
Once we got to Victoria, we found our hotel; which was called the Strathcona. It is an old Victorian style hotel that dates back to the historic Gold Rush era. Lots of history behind this hotel. It sorda reminds of a fancy hotel in Charleston, SC.
For our first night, we ate at The Sticky Wicket; which is connected to the hotel. After dinner, we put on a movie and called it a day. We knew we would have another full day tomorrow.
